"This project is the result of the distillation of ideas after a prolonged period of reflection, travels, and observations on the relationships between architecture, landscape, and the horizon.
One of the most significant elements is the view. A view that is qualified through architecture, which acts as a camera obscura and is capable of making selective actions on the environment.
There is a duality between the top, exposed to the sky, and the bottom, the more welcoming part of the terrace.
The lower part becomes a cave, seeking within it diverse, horizontal planes to situate its functions.
When man leaves the cave, he seeks a flat place. In this case, it is a rectangular structure, a space for lingering and shade.
Gravity on the terrace is transmitted in mass, a stereotomic podium accessed laterally. The design is to place the podium very high, at eye level, where the plane becomes a line, framing. The panoramic void, the shrubs, and the horizon line converge in a proposal for a fusion of nature and artifice, which occurs from a contemplative orientation.
Below this horizon, the most important element appears: water. It creates the illusion of the horizon in a sheet of water and, therefore, the complete disappearance of the boundary, or, when stagnant and still, it becomes a mirror. Water flows through a beam. From the precise moment of its land origin, it seeks its course. It seeks its path, and by draining, it creates places."
